Who Do You Think You Are?

In 2008, NBC announced that it had picked up an immensely popular BBC series that follows famous people as they trace their family history. Canada's CBC aired it last year, although it did not have the success as the origial show did in the UK.

"Who Do You Think You Are?" is slated to premiere Friday, March 5, 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT. The American-made version is from Lisa Kudrow's production company. The first episode will feature Kudrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Susan Sarandon as they solve a mystery from their family's past, or seek answers to where they came from and who they are.

In the NBC press release January 27, 2009, Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios said, "No other program gives this unique glimpse into the personal lives of celebrities or takes viewers on a quantum leap through history in such an entertaining way," said Telegdy. "We are thrilled to have Lisa, Susan and Sarah Jessica kick off this groundbreaking series."

"This show personalizes history and turns it into a gripping narrative," said Kudrow. "The most striking thing about the show is the realization of how connected we all are."

If the format follows the UK and Canadian editions, there will be plenty of online support for creating your own family tree, or help with breaking down brick walls.
